"The State Board of Health shall have general control over the enforcement of laws relating to public health." The department's primary goal is to initiate and implement preventative medical programs (Ala. COde 22-1-702 [1907]). This record consists of newspaper articles clipped from Alabama newspapers and pasted onto the pages of a bound volume. Included are articles pertaining to health issues and health programs throughout the state and articles which contain information on the department and its work. An index for articles from 1921-1923 is inserted into the second volume.
